Basically, the scope of the assessment for PT3 still the same like PMR where it use summative assessment, in order to measure student's intellectual in mastering lower secondary level thoroughly.

However, some instrument such as oral exams for example, strengthened in PT3 to ensure that students not only master the subjects involved in writing but also verbally. Various other assessment instrument such as case studies are used so that students truly master the knowledge, skills and values for the subjects studied.

Are PT3 also assess the ability of students in terms of physical, emotional and spiritual as stated in PBS?

Through PBS, there are 2 components in the academic field and two component in non-academic field. Two components in the academic field are Pentaksiran Sekolah (PS) and Pentaksiran Pusat (PP). However, each student will also be measured in physical test, through Pentaksiran Aktiviti Jasmani, Sukan dan Kokurikulum (PAJSK) and measured in emotion and spiritual through Pentaksiran Psikometrik (PPsi).


At the end of stage three, students will be given four reporting that is PT3, PAJSK, PPsi and Pentaksiran Sekolah (PS).

What is Pentaksiran Sekolah (PS) and why the need for PT3 when students also need to be assess through the PS at the end of level three?

PS has 2 forms of formative assessment, with the intention to track students learning progress in an ongoing basis in order to fix their weakness and also provide improvement at the same time. Summative tests and examinations also will be conducted to detect student achievement for particular learning subtopic so that student grade rating can be conclude every month. Early notification for students development and achievement is very important so that teachers can intervene at the early stage of teaching and learning process. Based on this assessment, teachers can design a customize rehabilitation program that is needed to help improve student achievement.
